Repulsed by mustard. Infatuated with sailing and surfing. Consistently late (workin' on it). Unpredictably creative. Message me - let's chat!
This tiny house is fantastic. Love both the exterior and interior.

It was built by the one and only Minimaliste. Really well done!

There's so much about this that is great! The wood finishes are not hard to do, but make an incredible presentation and lifestyle. It just takes care and desire to get it right ... and that spills over to all of the design+build concepts. Truly, well done.
You just like it cause it has a surfboard on it ;)Β

The one and only Ben Garratt discusses what it means and how to build a healthy tiny home in this exclusive presentation.

What are the main reasons you'd want to build a healthy small home?

Enjoy!

ThinHaus tip: Sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the trailer frame before you seal up the floor. It's cheap, non-toxic, inert, lasts forever and bugs hate it.

Hey Y'all!

It's Jason Francis here. So glad to be apart of the Tiny House Community and really looking forward to connecting with you!

A little about me... I'm a father, son, brother and friend. Builder, entrepreneur, creative, believer. Sailor, surfer, explorer. I love to create new things out of nothing but an idea. Be it a house, website or app.

My journey in the Tiny House Industry started in 2011.

My family bought a sailboat in San Diego, USA and spent 9 months sailing to Brisbane, Australia. We visited amazing countries like the Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, Kingdom of Tonga, and Samoa, throughout the South Pacific It was the trip of a life time.

The boat was a modest but beautiful 46 Beneteau sloop and we had on average 6 of us living on the boat. Which, if you know anything about sail boats, that proves to be pretty tight - especially over 9 months!

It taught us how to live small, be resourceful and frugal, and gave us a biased towards living within ones means financially and a knack small space design.

Upon returning to the U.S. we immersed ourselves in learning the construction trades under our fathers leadership - a master contractor for over 35 years. He taught us how to build high quality homes from the foundation to roofing.

In between projects, Zach(brother), Tyson(brother-in-law), and I became intrigued by tiny homes and built our first prototype. Shortly thereafter, we founded Tiny Heirloom in 2014. This was our start into the Tiny House Industry.

It quickly took off and became one of the leading custom tiny home companies in the world. We built just under 100 fully custom, luxuriously designed tiny homes over the next 4ish years for some amazing clients!

We also had the opportunity to capture most of it on camera with our show Tiny Luxury on HGTV. It was a wild ride - more to come on this in the future if anyone is interested in the details and reality of a 'reality' TV show.

In 2019, we stepped away from Tiny Heirloom and handed the reigns to new owners. Bittersweet.

Since then, we've been building regular sized homes, small ADUs and building out Tinyhouse.com as a one-stop-shop for all things small homes.

Our passion here is to bring the community together. Through global conferences, this new community platform, courses and meetups. This is just the beginning and we're super excited for whats to come!

Beyond this all this, I have a beautiful family that I absolutely love and love spending time with. Plus, we have baby #3 coming in April!!! πŸŽ‰

We love to travel, surf, go on walks, hang with family and friends, and eat yummy food :)

Anyways, that's a little bit about me and my fam! Feel free to ask any questions and of course I'm down to connect so don't be shy - reach out or comment below!

Cheers,
Jason

What an adventureful life you've led! Β (You've got a fancy picture at the top of your profile too... Β after seeing your brothers and doing some investigation, I've decided it's either a pro/admin feature. ;) I'll have to take a look at those options again.)
Thanks Loretta! Haha yes, it's a new admin feature - will hopefully be rolling out to Community Members soon though. I'm gonna shoot you a message though about another fun idea / solution! :)Β
